Christian is the Managing Partner and CEO of The Tengelmann Group, leading the more than 150-year old family business in the 5th generation. Tengelmann is primarily engaged in the retail industry (DIY, fashion and general merchandise discount), but also operates a large commercial real estate portfolio (retail and multi-family) and runs venture capital platforms in both Europe and North America. Christian also served as Chairman, President and CEO of The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company, Inc. (A&P) and spent several years in investment banking with Dillon Read in New York. He is a graduate of the University of Economics and Business Administration in Vienna, Austria where he earned a master’s degree in social and economic sciences. He serves on the board of Metro, Inc., a leading Canadian food and drug retailer in Montreal.
Andreas is Founding Partner and CEO of Emil Capital Partners, with a background of over 15 years of experience working with entrepreneurs and family enterprises. Prior to Emil Capital, Andreas held senior executive positions in corporate finance and human resources; serving as Senior EVP & CFO of the Tengelmann Group, CFO of E. Breuninger, and Chief Strategy Officer of The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company (A&P). He also held senior consultant positions with CSC Index and PA Consulting. Andreas holds a Master’s degree in Psychology, an MBA and a Ph.D. in Economics and Business Administration, and has been a visiting faculty member at several European universities including the European Business School, the University of Dusseldorf, the University of Stuttgart, HSG and the University St. Gallen.
Marcel is Managing Partner and COO of Emil Capital. Marcel started his career in the wonderful world of Automotive, serving in various key operational roles at Daimler AG (formerly Daimler Chrysler AG) in the United States, Germany and South Africa. Before joining Emil Capital in 2011, he worked at a multi-billion dollar distressed private equity firm in New York City, and at a strategic and financial advisory firm in Sydney, Australia. Marcel holds a joint master’s degree in mechanical engineering and economics from the Technical University of Berlin, Germany and an MBA from Columbia Business School in New York. Outside of work, he enjoys just about anything that tires out his energetic two kids (and the family dog).
Scott is a Senior Partner at Emil Capital Partners. Prior to joining ECP, he helped manage Sherbrooke Capital, an early and growth stage consumer fund. He has been an active angel and adviser to a number of startups. Scott started his career in Lehman Brothers' merchant bank group and has worked at Putnam Investments in corporate development and at Booz Allen Hamilton in the energy practice. Scott holds an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth and an AB from Bowdoin College in economics and computer science. Scott played four years of college football and enjoys teaching his two young boys how great Boston sports are.
David is a Partner at Emil Capital Partners. David previously worked at Credit Suisse Securities in New York as part of an Opportunities Fund that focused on identifying and acquiring assets that were financially attractive to the firm’s Investment Banking Units. Prior to this, he worked in Credit Suisse's Investment Bank advising clients in Financial Technology, Specialty Finance and Asset Management. David holds a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Economics from Middlebury College and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. He enjoys long distance running and volunteering for education causes.
Kenny is an Associate at Emil Capital Partners. Prior to joining ECP, Kenny was an Equity Research Analyst at Credit Suisse covering the Large Cap Banks sector, where he helped perform investment research, draft reports, and service institutional investors. Kenny has also worked in several operational roles with consumer start-ups. Kenny received his bachelor of business administration from Georgetown University with a major in finance and minor in economics. Outside of work, Kenny enjoys break dancing and traveling for competitions.
Michael is an Associate at Emil Capital Partners. Before joining ECP, Michael was an investment banking analyst in Harris Williams & Co.’s food & beverage practice. Michael earned a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and an MS in Commerce with a finance concentration from the University of Virginia’s McIntire School of Commerce.
